Plarn Spider Web Halloween Decoration – Dogs vs Cats Episode 13

When I started this post I did not intend for it to be an Episode in the continuing Dogs vs Cats saga, but of course I really should have known better. If you have paid any attention to the above photo of what I deemed to be a remarkable successful project you are probably way ahead of me here.

It took the Cat Monsters approximately 17 hours 42 mins and 3 seconds to locate this delightful new cat toy and another 32 seconds to do this to it.

For a minute I confess that I did consider shipping them off to some kitty cat  reform school where they might learn some manners. But then I remembered the hole in the couch, three pairs of ruined sheets, a torn footstoola broken lampshade, a scratched up table top, chewed up cords and slippers all compliments of the Dogzilla, and well, I can’t afford reform school for all of them so here we are. 🙂

I guess that since what the Cat Monsters destroyed was in reality only two grocery bags there is really no harm done.

If you don’t have cats or ones that are just better behaved. You can make your own version.

Start by cutting two grocery bags into plarn. Spread heavy paper on a surface that can withstand a hot iron. Secure four strands of plarn with tape to the surface to make the radial pieces of the web. Then lay out the plarn to make the rest of the web and secure the plarn in place with the iron. Be sure to use parchment paper to shield the iron from directly touching the plastic. Allow the paper and plastic to cool before moving the paper to the next section. You may want to practice ironing some plastic to find the best temperature for the iron.

Here is a short video showing the process.
